Gender equality in Spain

A new step towards #gender equality in Spain was taken last week, when the royal decree 901/2020 entered into force. This decree from Oct 13th 2020 details the scope and content of the mandatory equality plans for companies.

The Spanish government and media pay a lot of attention to gender topics, and particularly to gender violence. But some might argue the Spanish ranking in the European Gender Equality Index (8th position, 72/100) could be worse.

A good sign that Spain is catching up? Gender violence figures are not included in the ranking though… Or above all, a sign that there is still a lot of work to be done in many countries within Europe?
